Full Written: The Intentional Testament
The Collaboration Me and Scolachi took the craft seriously for this one. It wasn't about just saying anything to fill the beat; every word was intentional. We sat with the pen until the verses matched the weight of our stories.
The Opening The intro is heavy. Scolachi speaks on the passing of his father, while I get into the losses I’ve taken and how I navigate life as a young man in these surroundings. It’s a raw look at what it takes to grow up when the world feels broken
The Hero"Baba Showed the Way" is named after one of my heroes, Dick Gregory. He was one of the funniest people you’d ever meet, but also one of the most locked in. Every time I listen to him, I get wiser. He understood our people and guided us toward freedom. "Baba showed the way, life through my third eye."
The Pocket"The Grave Sins of the Father" is one of my personal favorites. I found a pocket on this one that felt unique, a flow I haven't used before. The lyrics go deep, "Is it the truth, when I say I died before I paid my dues. I been a bad boy, I need to be in the PRU. It’s stained too."
The Contrast"August" has become a fan favorite. Scolachi’s part is personal to him, so I’ll leave that there. For my part, I’m back on my staple, talking about women.
The Outro We ended the tape with a record that shows the clear contrast in our styles. You’ve got Scolachi’s hard-hitting, fast flow against my slow, cautious delivery. We both get into our conscious bag on this one, referencing MLK and Malcolm X to close the project.
